The 16 year old Prince had constantly asked his father to be allowed to attend to more of the royal duties around the castle, wanting to gain more responsibilities, as well as all of the power that came with them of course. The King had been slightly reluctant to give him more than a steady drip feed of royal duties, wishing to slowly and carefully immerse him into the world that he'd one day take over rather than just tossing him into the deep end right away, but the young Prince's finally got his wish as his father had to depart for a few weeks to take care of some urgent business, leaving the boy in charge of the castle. The King had pushed back any of the truly crucial and difficult tasks that Aerys wasn't prepared for, the plannings of war and the diplomatic envoys, but he was still in charge of the day to day duties around the castle.
