General Simon Holcomb waited patiently for the report. His military suit was finely pressed, a fine midnight blue color with the three stars denoting his rank as a three star general. His whiskers were splayed as he concentrated carefully on the reports before him. According to the men he had following Captain Jackson and Dr. Carmen Westerly they were once again together. The attraction created by the XR series Batch 2 pheromone gas was still at least partially in effect. He wondered if this truth would be shared by the couple when they came into the compound in the morning or if they would have to be questioned to force them to admit that they were seeing each other still. No matter, the power of Batch 2 alone was enough to make his whiskers twitch in anticipation.\nWhat would happen if the other batches were tested in the same way? How power was batch 23, the final progression of the XR series gas? Testing of the other batches had been going on in secret all along on non-sentient livestock. Each couple went through similar extreme original effects having to be forcibly separated and kept apart for a 72 hour period. The later side effects were in each case almost an exact duplicate of their own bonding experience.
