Hows it going guys?! It's me again. I finally finished one of the drawings I was working on after being on hiatus for a while! XD I know, it's not much! But at least I got something to present here! ;P I felt like dropping this into my gallery, A reduxed version of my old, bald headed alien chick I made a long time ago. This lady right here\n ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25271140/ ), Who's no longer a Dragon lady anymore, as I have decided to make the Dragons of my fictional I guess DnD homebrew esque settings their own distinct (albeit fictional) class of \"Reptile-like\" non-mammalian Synapsids from now on, take a wild guess what their animal class is called btw. Thus this alien lady with a dome that shines like chrome and whatever clade her respective species and their genus belongs to in a taxonomical context, are not at all Dragons, because then that would make her a Reptile-like non-mammalian Synapsid, which she is not.... She's an Anapsid reptile actually, and I mean within the context of what group of amniotes(or analogue to amniotes) her species is a part of, NOT the actual name of the species. That's right, she's not a Lepidosaur either, which are part of the Sauropsid/Diapsid Reptile branch of Amniotes and not Anapsids! XD\nI'll explain the best I can.\n\n\nHer species and all of their close and distant relatives are suppose to be part of the Anapsid branch of Amniotes(or at least something analogous to Anapsids and Amniotes, and Reptilimorphs in general which Amniotes are, since she is suppose to be an alien) which is, actually from what I have heard a paraphyletic group within the Amniote clade of Tetrapodamorphs and not a monophyletic one, since it doesn't include the descendant Synapsid, or Sauropsid/Diapsid groups. :P The Euryapsid reptile group on the other hand are polyphyletic, but that's a whole entirely different can of worms were not going focus on right now. For now! Were talking about Anapsid reptile alien here.\n\nOh yeah a little side bit here, for those of you not familier with the terms that I am using like Amniotes, or Anapsids or Synapsids, or Sauropsid/Diapsid, those are all concepts from vertabrate paleontology, describing entire major groups or clades of land dwelling Tetrapoda that are classified by the structure of their skulls, based on sets of temporal openings and the arrangement of said openings in the skull, the number of ear bones in said skull, along with the common ancestry and evolutionary history of creatures, that are descended from creatures that sported those types of skull structures before, thus making them a part of that same group of Amniotes, which is normally going to include various clades and even straight up distinct animal classes with their own disctinct traits, that are a part of that group via common ancestry irrespective of the actual morphology of the animal. It's a style of classifications that has more to do with common ancestry, and evolutionary history more than anything, as mentioned prior, making you have to consider and account for all of an animals, more specifically tetrapods within the Reptilimorph category which all Amniotes are, traits rather than those based on pure morphology alone, to get a more accurate picture of what group that particular creature actually really belongs to in reality. At least that's as best I could explain it.\n\nAs for Amniotes them selves, specifically the animal class Amniota, aka Amniotic Reptiles, that's a class of Reptile-like Tetrapods that are characterized by being able to lay waterproof hard shelled eggs on dry land, eliminating the need for a near by water source for those eggs, allowing them to be fully terrestrial :-) This group is the common ancester to all the four major groups in the amniote clade such as Sauropsids formally known as Diapsids which include animal classes such as scuamata, lizards, serpents which are part of the Lepidosaur clade of Sauropsids, Crocodyliforms, Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and Birds! which are part of the Archosaur clade of Sauropsids and much more, oh yeah and Turtles, Anapsids, Euryapsids Which includes various types of pleaseosaurs, and finally Synapids through which mammals are a distinct class of Synapsids(belonging to the Cynodont clade I believe).\n\nI am definitely going to link some videos related to the topic of vertebrate paleontology that talks about these aforementioned concepts in greater detail. Or if I ended up sparcking an interest in that with any of you now, tehe! ;-)\nHere's an entire corse from Professor Benjamin Burger from the Utah state university. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0q8UOqi5Mo&list=PL9o6KRlci4eBBreHKyuGwHSwhmSfpxwqv Hopefully you're able to understand said concepts now with that link.\n\nNow with all of that stuff out the way, I can begin by saying that, since she is suppose an Anapsid reptile, that means her race is, or was assuming their a post-biological species, part of a group of Amniotes(or Amniote-like analogue's) that lacked and temporal openings in the skull(for the most part). Though keep on mind some Anapsid reptiles did independently evolved temporal fenestra in their skulls, but they were not within the same configurations as Sauropsids/Diapsid, Synapsid, or Euryapsids at all. But for all intents and purposes, the xeno-ladie's race have(or had) no temporal openings in their skulls, so straight up Anapsid in structure. :-) inherited from being the descendants of other Anapsid like ancestors of course!\n\nAs for other details of her race's biology, her race have 2 earbones instead of 1 like saurapsids, or 3 like synapids. No this trait is not necessarily characteristic of Anapsid Reptiles in general at all, which where a very diverse paraphyletic group anyway, on Earth.\nNo the two earbone trait is something inherit to this fictional characters race, and whatever clade of Anapsid Reptile-like creatures said race belongs to actually, plus since she's an alien, technically, the fact that she's suppose to have orignated from another planet at all should mean that whatever the analogue to Amniotes, and Anapsids is, doesn't necessarily have to %100 follow the same evolutionary paths, as the Earth, or Abier-Toril equivalents as a byproduct of being from a different environment from Earth or Toril altogether to begin with. So any seemingly strange traits her race and other related or distantly related species may have, may NOT necessarily be %100 shared with the Earth or Toril analogue's outside of sporting an Anapsid skull stucture, and being a reptilimorph-like being of some kind. But to keep things simpler, for all intents and purposes, were just going put her race under the Anapsid reptile category anyway, which is within a similar context that you would put mammals and any species there of, within the Synapsid category, or Birds, and any species there of, within the Sauropsid/Diapsid Reptile category. Still gets the message across! :-)\n\nSo outside of her race having 2 earbones apparently, her race for as reptile like as the may appear, don't actually have scales or scutes at all, instead they have smooth leathery bare skin in a variety of colours, in this one's case purple, even though I think I should have made her a lighter shade! They do appear to have pointy elf like ear structures, and they all walk with a plantigrade foot stucture(like most reptiles). Said feet however are human-like in shape for bio-mechanical optimization reasons considering that they use an upright bipedal gate, complete with 5 clawed digits on the hands and feet, and they do appear to have tails. Well that describes them physically anyway.\nI originally imagined this race to be an all female post-biological species, one that has pretty much meld with technology to the point where they could barely be considered biological beings anymore at this point in their species time, cyborg aliens basically! XD No Idea what happened to the males though, if they hade any before that is? Her race did use to be able to grow hair-like filament based integument structures, not at all homologous to actual hair or pycnofibers, but something unique to them that they evolved independently thanks to an evolutionary process that I don't think a lot of you have heard of or know about called CONVERGENT EVOLUTION!\nAlso known as parallel evolution, or mimicry. To keep it simple, it's where traits are so goddamn useful, that they get repeated in other organisms that are not at all related to one another ;-), all thanks to physics and it's effects on bio-mechanics, and bio-mechanical optimization, depending on whatever the organism in question is doing at all. These traits that are the result of convergent evolution are also referred to as analogous traits in taxonomy. And given the fact that her species, at least use to have filamentous structures similar to hair or pycnofibers bio-mechanically, even if it's just on their heads, suggest that her race did in fact had endothermic metabolisms, and not ectothermic ones! Meaning that they can generate their own body heat from the chemical energy they receive from food, and maintain a constant body temperature.\n\nBut nowadays their all bald and devoid of filamentous structures. They pretty much evolved to be bald all female cyborg aliens, so their actual biology is pretty much moot at this point, but hey at least it helps to get some context on what her species was like before going post-biological! XD\n\nI did not mention it, but I might as well now, that this ladies species here did use to give live birth even though they are reptiles, albeit NOT of the Sauropsid/Diapsid variety that you're average Joe or Jill is very quick to thinking about, while not understanding how broad and foggy of a term \"Reptile\" actually is in taxonomy, as established. The method of live birth this species had was more akin to Ovoviviparity where the egg hatches in the mother womb allowing the creature to give live birth without the need for a uterus or placenta.\n\nOver all after that long wall of text, I guess I said everything I needed about what the characters species was like biologically! XD I hope I kept it an interesting enough read for all of you out there I guess? As for the way I feel about this reduxed version of that old character of mines, well... I feel compelled to tweak her colour scheme a bit, like making he a light shade of purple for instance, and making sure the palm of her hands are a lighter colour than the rest of her, and maybe tweak the colour scheme of her mini vest :P I'm just not completely satisfied with it overall. :P But hey, that's what redrawing, and I guess making a better redux is for! So yeah I will draw her again with some tweaks. She has a very simple character design so it should be both fun and easy to redo.\n\nAny who I hope you all like what you see so far. Oh yeah, she can probably blind somebody with that dome! XD","description_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>Hey, Hows it going guys?! It&#039;s me again.
