Little Andy was roaming through the Vault one night, nosing around while the others were at a meeting. He found his way to the Reactor level and picked the lock so he could look around inside. It was empty this time of night, except for the noise and smells of oil and steel. Andy turned on the light of his pink Pip Boy; machinery, heavy tools, a lunch box or two, some magazines of questionable content, and lots and lots of drained energy cells were strewn about. Nothing too special, but in the corner of his eye, the pink bunny cub spotted a door locked by terminal. It didn't take long to hack the password, only 6 characters long, "Squirt".
He carefully walked inside, knowing he was not supposed to be in there. The lights came on automatically and Andy could see that he was inside a small laboratory that did not seem Overseerer approved. There was Jet and Buffout and Pyscho and more, including strange things like smooth rods made of rubber and spilled bottle of water-based lubricant. Andy giggled at the thought of a "water-based" lubricant. "What would anyone want to use that on their machines?"
But it was the Mentats stash that Andy was looking for. He heard so much about them from the older kids. "It makes you smarter", they say, "You'll be more charming and witty and more perceptive". Andy smiled mischievously and imagined himself convincing Mr. Bray, the grownup donkey who was in charge of the kindergarten, to spend a little 'quality time' with him in the private bathroom.
Andy opened the desk drawer and chose a pack of Party-Time Mentats but instead of little white tablets inside, there were blue, diamond-shaped tablets. The older kids assured him that they would be white and round! What was this? The curious cub sniffed one then licked it. It tasted like an aspirin which made his face cringe and ears flatten. Before he could lose his nerve, he swallowed the pill down with an audible gulp and pocketed the rusty metal tin. He quickly left the secret area and went back upstairs to the meeting hall where the Overseer was still excitedly talking about the food overstock and over abundance of supplies.
It wasn't long before the effects of the strange blue-diamond tablets started to take effect. The six-year-old bunny cub felt hot under the collar, his heart was racing and blood was flowing. So for an hour or two each night, Andy sneaked into the secret laboratory on the reactor level and added things to tablets, everything from herbs to other chems. He tweaked his formula a lot, taking many notes, but he found that adding the tiniest amount of the toxic green goop found in a room by the reactor gave him a very warm tingling sensation and boosted his semen production by a staggering 12,000% (albeit, with a slight white neon glow) In the end, Andy made an aqueous solution and called it "Mentats V" after the little V imprinted on each of the many blue diamond tablets he found.
Like the true hero scientists he saw in the video clips at school, Andy tried his concoction on himself, gulping down the glowing green Mentats V.
