It was a normal day for Darke. He was skipping school as usual, Vandalizing property, and cursing at people who walked on the other side of the street. He was a horrible kid after the accident that befell him. His parents died, and nobody cared about it. So therefore, he started a personal Vendetta on the city in which he lived, and blaming all his problems on society, he tore the town up from the roots. The whole town was tired of him but they couldn't do anything about it. He was a smart kid who learned everything himself, so to keep people off his property in the woods he made the surrounding perimeter a minefield. But little did he know that his life would change from the work of a scientist who was his long-lost godfather, a dimensional transportation project, and a Light-Brown colored foxgirl, with Green punkish hair named Kara. This is their story... It was a normal day for Darke. He hated school, only because they only taught what he already knew. He practically taught himself, mainly with his parents old schoolbooks. If he wasn't so young he'd be in college already."Frickin' society, can't teach anyone unless they work their ass off." Darke said to himself. He had just hid under a bridge from Officer Toorey, who was personally looking for him to try to put him in school. He only tried to do so because he was a friend to Darke's parents, and the fact that his son was also once his best friend. He sped off, convinced that he might have gotten further into town. "oh shit, that was close." Darke said with a sigh. It was Eleven O' Clock, and he was starting to get hungry. He knew this convenience store up the road, but he would literally have to run in there and jack stuff of the shelves. He donned his hoodie and started running towards the store. He ran straight through the door, grabbed 5 random cans of food, and made a run for it. he was at the door as he was yanked back quickly. John the shopkeeper had caught him... Again."Screw you!" Yelled Darke. The shopkeeper yelled to Darke,"If you want some food, why don't you try working for it? We've had this nice conversation at least a hundred times!" Darke only scoffed and started walking home."Stupid little shit. Wish he was my boy, he really needs to change before it kills him.I guess I'll pray for him at church Sunday" Muttered the shopkeeper to himself. A shopper overheard him and asked,"Why would you pray for that hellspawn, John?" John, the shopkeeper only said,"Amy, He deserves the love that his parents never had the time to give..."Amy, the shopper, agreed."then let us pray for him now......" Darke looked back at the conveniece store, sorely pissed off. He wasnt able to get any food today, but He'll try the same thing tomorrow. As Darke walked up to his house and started unlocking his door, he couldn't help but to see a small black hole on the forest floor."Probably more squirrels..." He said to himself."Frick.... Not even a scrap of meat left." Checking the mail slot on the side of his house, he found a check adressed to his house."Damn." Darke said as he walked into his house, then sarcastically yelled,"I'm home." As usual, no-one answered. Scoffing again, he headed for the kitchen and started to eat some moldy crackers. He was used to being alone in the house. He carried a gun with him at all times, so no-one would try to break into his house. Not to mention the mine field around the property. His only visitor was the mailman, and he was allowed to set the mail in the mailbox. He looked around the living room and turned on the TV. "Cables out again." Said Darke. "Augh! Fuck it! I'm going to go to sleep..." he laid down on the couch, and turned towards the back of it. It was not long before he drifted into an uneasy sleep. a clap of thunder woke Darke up.He loved thunderstorms, because it helped him sleep more peacefully, instead of having the nightmares of his parents unfortunate demise. but tonight was different. as he looked out the window, the lightning wasn't white as it usually was. It was a harsh black."Black lightning huh? Now that's pretty fucking awesome." Darke said to himself. He could give a damn less about what happened to people in the world, but he loved nature... to an extent. He knew that sometimes he'd have to kill something just to eat, but that's the way the world worked. He couldn't do much about it, nor could anyone else. He got dressed and headed into the basement. He usually powered his house by a generator, but he had been working on a lightning powered generator, which could power his house for a year. Or at least that's what the calculations said. He was not too sure to try it out during this unusual storm, but he had no time to waste. the storm was about to be right over the house, and he had spent all of last week to get the lightning rod properly placed. He quickly kicked the jukebox next to the workbench to play some metal. "Hell yeah! Lets get this party started!" Yelled Darke as the thunderstorm was above the house. The lights started to flicker on and off, and the ground began to rattle after a loud crack of thunder rattled the whole house. It was working, as the meters of the underground storage tanks in the sub-basement were filling up. He planned not to turn it on until tommorrow, just in case the two lightnings didn't agree with each other. he turned the jukebox off and headed up to his room. He knew today was a very eventful day, and he was proud of himself. He brought out the book of projects from the loose panel in his desk, and wrote down how successful his experiment was. He sat in the chair in front of his desk. "I wonder who my godfather is. I have never met him, and he always sends me a check in the mail every week. Doesn't he have the balls to take up his resposibility that my parents failed to uphold?" Drake just sighed and laid down on his bed. As he stared at the ceiling, he slowly started to fall asleep. He didn't hear the door open or close that night, if he did he might have gotten up and went to see what was going on downstairs. A shadowy figure slouched over to the couch and laid down. it was probably in pain by the way it cluched it's side. It fell into sleep uneasily. Drake woke up the next morning to his original schedule. He used the bathroom, and brushed his teeth. He went down to the kitchen to grab a week old hamburger from the fridge. It wasn't bad, it was still pretty good. The mailman was such a nice guy, always brought several hamburgers on monday from an old fast food place. He went to sit on the couch when he noticed the figure. He slowly brought out his gun and snuck up to the back of the couch. as he peered over, he was shocked by what he saw. It was apparently like a fox, but more human-like. It was brown in color with a lighter front. He looked at the green shoulder-length hair, which was kinda unusual to him. He concluded that it was a female, after pulling the sheet of of her that was already on the couch. Finally, he noticed she was injured. He put away his gun, and looked at her side. she had apparently had a hard landing on something, being bruised and cut a little. he felt sorry for her, at least for the fact she was injured. He went back up to the bathroom to grab his health kit from under the sink. He pulled some antiseptic for the cuts, and some gauze and bandages for the bruises and to make sure the cuts wouldn't cause too much of a problem. He was careful as he lifted her up, and set her upright. As he applied the antiseptic to her wound, her face winced in pain. She didn't wake up, at least not yet. He then applied the gauze and bandages, and made sure that they wouldn't slip. He laid her back down on the couch, and sat in a recliner right across from her. It was not long before she woke up, and with one look at Darke, she was somewhat frightened."w-w-Who are you?" she asked in a frightened voice. "My name is Darke, but the real question should be who are you, and what are you doing in my house?" She replied with a shaking voice. "My n-n-name is Kara. Please don't hurt me!" as she said this she curled up in a fetal position. Darke got up, and sat right next to her. "I won't hurt you, but people out there might. Stay here until I can figure out how to get you back where you came from." He put his hand on her back, then asked "are you okay? you looked like you were hurt, so I bandaged you up." Kara quickly came out of her fetal position and looked at her side. She looked back at Drake and said under her breath "Thank you." he felt happy, but he didn't let it show. "will it be alright if I sleep here again?" Kara asked quietly. Drake replied "No. follow me, you can sleep in a better place than my couch." she tried to get up, but collapsed. Darke sighed, and picked her up in a cradled position. He carried Kara up the stairs and into the guest bedroom. He set her on the bed and told her, "you can sleep here, and I'll be in the next room if you need me." She kissed him on the cheek and said "thanks again". He closed the door and went into his room. He looked in the mirror behind the door, and noticed he was blushing. He shook it off, and went back to sleep.
