That night, Kai lay on my bed, waiting for me. For the first time in awhile, he had no trickster agenda. He only wanted to apologize for his most recent attempt to seduce me: the basket.

I walked from the bathroom, only wearing a towel. It was late enough I didn't have to worry about anyone in my house still being awake. So, I stepped in to the dark room, and three off my towel, thinking I was alone. I noticed then I had shifted forms upon entering my room, to my Lucario form. I turned on the lights for a second to reveal Kai there, waiting for me. I turned off the lights and sighed... "Kai... I'm too tired for this right now..."

"Please..." He said this with a tone of sincerely, with no scheme behind it.  "I only want to apologize..."

"Whatever... Just get out of my bed."

He stood up as I lay down and covered myself. He sat on a chair beside my bed. I waited a minute before he finally spoke again. "I'm sorry... For everything... I know you don't want me in that way... It's just... You've been so, so nice to me, even after all I've done... Knowing what I am... You're an amazing guy, and I'm a horrible friend who has pushed his luck one too many times... Can we please... Please... Still be friends?..."

"Kai... I just, can't even tell you what kind of fight you caused between Elly and I this time... It was to the point that... I hurt her worse than I ever had..."

His eyes widened a bit, then he looked down, ashamed in his actions. "I-I... Had no idea... I promise, Gabriel... I won't pull anything like that ever again..."

"How can I trust anyone?... With Elly so ready to lie so easily..." A tear falls from my eye. Kai starts to bring himself closer to me, but he hesitates, afraid of how I'll react. "You say you love me... But, you cause me so much pain..."

"I know that... And, I don't want to any longer... I just, want us to be friends... I'll look for someone else to call mine... I have no right to ruin your life..."

"The damage is done... You can't change how I hurt her... How she hurt me... But..." I sigh... "I guess I have to give you another chance... My god says I have to..."

He dares now to stand up and hug me from the edge of the bed. "You won't regret it..." His hug lingers for a minute, long passed the point of awkwardness for me. But, I figure this may be the last time I'll let Kai touch me for awhile, so I let it slide.

He then lets go of me and leaves my house, sneaking off in to the night... He has nowhere to go tonight, so he sneaks in to my neighbor's back yard to sleep on their trampoline...
