fact that the terrain was sandy. he spent some time playing around in the sand, when suddenly, he saw a figure loom over him. naturally, his first instict was to stand up on his paws and look up at the creature in fear. it was... a lioness? the second their eyes met, kopa couldn’t help but grow even more scared for some reason. the look in her eyes was so fierce and intimidating... he froze in place, wondering why she had approached him so directly since she had plenty of space to walk through around them.\n\nin fact, zira had deliberately walked in his direction, pretending to have stumbled across him accidentally.\n\n‘‘w- who are you?’‘, asked the cub, not sure how to react. zira took a moment and stopped advancing, already very close to the youngster. why was he so... familiar?\n\n‘‘i should be asking you the same thing’‘, she scoffed, although in a softer way than she thought. suddenly, kopa took some air and puffed up his chest, although he remained tense.\n\n‘‘i- i’m kopa, prince of the pridelands! and i’m not scared of anything!’‘\n\nwait... kopa? zira widened her eyes in surprise. so this was simba’s son... she smiled a satisfied smile and adopted a more... friendly demeanour.\n\n‘‘kopa, prince of the pridelands...? oh, i’m so glad to meet you!’‘, she said, giving a bow with her head. the little male was surprised at the change of behaviour, but easily got tricked by it. ‘’i’m zira, a lone lioness’’, she lied.\n\n‘‘so you’re not from the outlands?’‘, said kopa, and sighed in relief. ‘‘phew... my father says i should never go beyond the borders. everyone living there is a creep! especially the hyenas and lions!’‘ \n\nzira began taking his childish sincerity to her advantage. ‘’of course you shouldn’t go there. you’re such a responsible cub... i’m sure you’ll make a good king someday.’’\n\nkopa felt swollen with pride, a cheerful grin on his face. ‘’wow, thanks! but... how do you know about me?’’\n\n‘‘your father is the king of the pridelands. everyone knows him and his family... and i’m so glad i got to meet the future king’‘, she rose her clawed paw and petted kopa’s head, messing up his tuft a little. ‘‘now, if here right now. and you wouldn’t want me to be punished for making a harmless mistake, right? besides... right now you’re very close to the outlands. you wouldn’t want anyone to know you’ve been plotting.\n\n‘‘soon...’‘\n\ni had this drawing done by the time i posted the previous one, but i got so unmotivated recently i didn't finish it until now.\na deeper insight on the reasoning behind kopa's future 'death'... and you guessed it, it's zira. \ni like to think she doesn't try to kill him right away; she builds up his trust instead and attacks him when she sees the chance. she lies to him about herself and tells him not to mention her to simba. \nand yes... i drew her without her ear slit deliberately, because, spoiler alert, it's kopa the one who harms her ear. :')\n\nno, kopa doesn't meet vitani or any of the other outlanders besides zira. in fact, i don't like the whole 'kopa falling in love with vitani' thing, at least not when they are cubs. besides, there's a chance
