Tails has a lot of issues with getting proper sleep or going to bed on time. Usually its Sonics job to check in on Tails but, Sonic is going on a search for a few rumored Chaos Emerald locations. Sonic asks all his friends but, they got things to do.. The last person he would ever expect to even consider it and agrees to watch over him that person is, Shadow the Hedgehog.

Tails is a tiny and very innocent genius with lots of ambition to finish his projects. This always is on Sonic’s mind because, he is his Guardian. Ever since Sonic has taken the little boy fox into his life; He has constantly had to take care of him. 

“Tails?” Sonic called out Tail’s name while looking through his bedroom.

“Strange. He should be in bed by now?” Sonic says to himself before thinking the obvious place where he would be. 

Sonic thought to himself, ‘He must be in the workshop.. How many times do I have to demand him to go to bed at a healthy time.’ Sonic sighed and facepalmed. 

Sonic was feeling tired so he decided to take his time and walked to the workshop in the yard. 

Sonic didn’t bother knocking because Tails in his eyes was going to be punished even if he has to drag him out by the ear. Sonic opened the door to the workshop to hear loud construction noises most likely a drill. 

Sonic walked over to a dust covered Tails and bent over behind Tails and began to lift up the fox. 

Tails began to squirm in protest. “Let go of me- Oh Sonic! What are you doing?” Tails pondered. 

“Tails, its time for bed. I told you several times already. Seems like I have to physically put you to sleep. I got a big day ahead of me tomorrow.” Sonic said with a tone of seriousness.

“Wha-? What do you mean you have a big day tomorrow?” Tails questioned while still squirming because he hates being carried.

“See what I mean? You are so tired you totally forgot the information you told me yesterday. Anyways, you told me that you found several rumors of locations of the Chaos Emeralds. I am going alone to speak to people and find the origins of the rumors and learn more about the locations of the Emeralds.” Sonic said annoyed. 

“Oh yah.. right. Sorry Sonic you may be right that I am tired. I will go to sleep. Can you place me down?” Tails said while squirming. 

Sonic placed Tails down and brushed his bangs with his hand. “Good. Thank you, Tails.” Sonic smiled. 

Tails tried to walk to his machine project but, was suddenly grabbed on the wrist. 

“Your bedroom is the other way, Miles Tails Prower.” Sonic said with a stern voice. 

Tails huffed and walked with Sonic to the house. 

Sonic and Tails entered the house and walked together to Tail’s room.

“Change into your PJs and brush your teeth, Tails. Or I’ll do it for you. And I’ll be sure… to make it as. EMBARRASSING as possible.” Sonic said while partly teasing him. 

Tails shivered and shook his head quickly, “No need for that Sonic.. I am not a baby-“ Tails was cut off by Sonic, “Yes you are. Now go brush your teeth and change.” Sonic quickly added while putting his finger on Tail’s lips. 

Tails whined in protest but, ultimately went to the bathroom with Sonic following close behind to watch him do it. 

Sonic stood by the door with a protective gaze at Tails while he brushed his teeth. After he was done Sonic walked him back to his room. 

“Sonic.. I do not need you watching me change.” Tails whined innocently. 

“I didn’t plan on it. Just close your door and change. Then hop into bed. I have some things to take care of before I call it a night.” Sonic said softly. 

“I was meaning to ask. If you are going alone does that mean I’ll be home alone?” Tails said a little scared. 

“No little buddy, i’ll be asking someone to take care of you while I am gone. I do not know who yet, but I’ll be busy the next hour calling people or visiting to ask for them to come over while I am away.” Sonic said with a tired sigh. 

“Don’t push yourself, Sonic.” Tails said with a hint of concern in his voice. 

“Don’t worry, little buddy. I will be just fine!” Sonic puffed his chest and gave a thumbs up. 

Sonic smiled at Tails and closed his door for him. Sonic walked into the living room and took out his phone.

Sonic’s phone lit up when he turned it on. He tapped on messages and began to read off some recent contacts. 

Sonic clicked on Amy’s message and scrolled through a bunch of large paragraphs of her love confessions. That was a daily occurrence and it didn’t faze him much.

Hey Ames. I was wondering if you are free tomorrow. I am going to check on some rumors of the chaos emeralds and I was wondering if you could take care of Tails while I am away. 

From Amy: 
HEY SONIC! :)
Unfortunately me and Victor are going with Vanilla and Cream out of town to get some baking supplies for her shop. Sorry.. 

To Amy:
Not a problem. Thanks for replying. I’ll ask Knuckles.

SONIC. YOU KNOW I CANNOT LEAVE THE MASTER EMERALD BEHIND. THE FATE OF THE WORLD RESTS ON MY STRONG HANDS.

Sonic tapped off the messages while sighing.. 

“Everyone is busy. Maybe I should just cancel.. No wait if I do that the rumors and locations will reach eggman which no one wants… but I cannot leave Tails unprotected. I need someone strong and capable to protect him. Even if he is not nice-“ Sonic cut himself off while lighting up a bit. “I know exactly who to ask. He may be rude and maybe not a good babysitter but, at least I know he could protect Tails.” Sonic added while still talking to himself.

Sonic pulled up Shadow’s contact and started texting him. Sonic sent a “Hello Shadow” but the message turned red with a “could not deliver”. 

“Shadow.. did you seriously block my contact. Asshole.” Sonic sighed. 

Sonic although was not derailed by this and got up and put on his running shoes. 

“If he won’t see my texts. I might as well pay him a visit in person.” Sonic said cheering himself up and determined to get his way. 

Sonic left the house and sped through the town and forest to a cave that is very well hidden. 

Sonic knocked on the door in the secret entrance. 

Shadow opened the door with a gun pointed towards Sonic. 

“Oh it’s just you, faker. What do you need of me?” Shadow growled. 

“Heya Shadow. I was wondering why you blocked my contact.” Sonic asked cheerfully. 

“I did no such thing. I am not petty like that. I just don’t have a phone anymore. I found them to be very useless.” Shadow smirked. 

“Well.. that is good at least. I came here to ask a favor.” Sonic said gently. 

“I take no favors from you, faker.” Shadow said coldly about to close the door. 

Sonic slid his foot in the path of the closing door so it wouldn’t close, “I am leaving to go on a mission.. everyone is busy and cannot take care of Tails.” Sonic begged. 

“Why not bring the little fox with you?” Shadow replied confused. 

“It is dangerous and I am not completely sure of the content of the mission. My speed will make the mission go faster. Tails will only limit how fast I can get around. Which isn’t a bad thing. He just isn’t fit for the type of mission I’m going on.” Sonic replied sadly. 

“What do I get out of this?” Shadow said bluntly. 

“I do no know to be honest with you.. I do promise if there is anything you ever need help with. I’ll owe you a favor. I’ll do anything, Shadow.” Sonic begged while lowering his ears. 

“Hmm.. Fine. What is it that you want me to do exactly?” Shadow said. 

“Alright. When you come to my house tomorrow your job will be to take care of tails. Which means making sure he doesn’t hurt himself while working on his projects, making him breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It doesn’t have to be extravagant food. Anything food will work because he isn’t picky. You’ll notice that Tails is very bad at managing his time especially while occupied with his projects and experiments. Make sure he gets to bed on time, changed into PJs and brushed his teeth at least 2 times a day. Also I usually play games and do fun things with him when ever he seems stressed so make sure to do that as well!” Sonic said while huffing a bit from the long speech. “Any questions?” Sonic added after his quick breath. 

“No. I got it all memorized.” Shadow said softly. 

“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Shadow. This means the absolute world to me. Please make sure to protect him as well but, I doubt it will ever come to that.” Sonic grabbed him and hugged him tightly for a short moment when he heard growling. 

Sonic dashed off to not hear Shadow’s complaints. 

Sonic raced through the forest and town to his home. Finally inside the house he checked to see if Tails was asleep and thankfully he was quietly snoring in bed with PJs on. 

Sonic closed Tail’s door and went to his room and began to sleep. 


Morning


Sonic woke up and stretched while looking at the time. 

10:27AM

“Jezz.. overslept a bit. No biggie. Tails should be up by now.” Sonic said to himself and walked to the kitchen. 

Sonic turned on the stove and began making scrambled eggs and took out two glasses. 

Sonic prepared the eggs for two plates and poured milk into both of the glasses. Sonic placed the plates and glasses on the table and called out Tail’s name. 

No response. 

Sonic got up and walked into Tail’s room and it was empty.

“Should of expected this from that sly fox.” Sonic said to himself and began his walk to the workshop. 

Sonic opened the workshop to see a busy working Tails. 

“Tails. Come here now.” Sonic demanded. 

Tails got up immediately and rushed over to Sonic worried that he was in trouble. 

“I got you a babysitter. I don’t know when they will be here but, just expect a visitor okay?” Sonic calmly stated and patted Tail’s bangs and head. “Now come with me, little man.” Sonic added and grabbed Tails hand and dragged him to the kitchen. 

Sonic and Tails sat down and began eating. 

“Tails, food is very important for a growing little genius. You need to start waiting for me to cook for you in the morning. Surely you can wait to work on your awesome inventions.” Sonic said calmly while adding compliments to not seem like he is attacking Tail’s pride. 

“Okay Sonic, I am sorry.” Tails said while smiling. 

“No need to apologize. Just do better next time little buddy.” Sonic said cheerfully. 

Tails smiled and nodded. 

After eating Sonic got up and hugged tails while grabbing a few bags and placing them by the door. 

Suddenly the doorbell sounded. 

“Ah they are here!” Sonic said happily. 

Sonic walked to the door with Tails raising a eyebrow to why Sonic wasn’t saying who the person was. 

Sonic opened the door to a big black and red hedgehog, Shadow. 

Suddenly Tails got up and hissed a bit thinking there was gonna be a fight but, Sonic was shaking his hand. 

“Don’t forget your promise, faker.” Shadow said sternly.

Sonic grabbed his stuff and walked out the door while Shadow stepped inside. “I won’t forget, Shadow” Sonic said cheerfully and sped off until you couldn’t see his trail anymore. 



Tails grabbed both of the empty plates and glasses and put them into the sink. 

“I see you have already finished breakfast, I assume?” Shadow said unsure of what to say or do. 

Tails stood nervously smirking near the sink looking at Shadow by the front Door and he nodded. 

“Y…y-yes..” Tails stuttered out.

Tails wasn’t gonna lie to himself, because if there was one person he feared out of everyone he knows it would be Shadow. Tails felt safe, but couldn’t help be intimidated by his presence.

Tails began to shake violently while clenching his fist. 

Shadow being very observant notices this demeanor change in Tails and walked up closely to Tails.

Shadow extended his hand Tails flinched.

“Tails. You do not need to be afraid of me. I am here to protect you. Not harm you. Sonic begged for me to help you. You should thank him.” Shadow said in a calm voice and put his hand on Tail’s shoulder.

Tails stopped shaking a bit and looked up into the red emerald like eyes. 

“O-Okay..” Tails said shyly.

“Listen Tails, I am here to keep you safe and make sure you don’t get yourself hurt in any way.” Shadow said bluntly, “In addiction you can do whatever you please. I will be close by keeping an eye on you. I know how much you love making stuff. So if that will calm you down, then work on your projects.” Shadow gave a very rare small smirk. 

Tails blushed widely at seeing Shadow smirk a tiny bit. It didn’t even last for a second but, Tails felt happy to make him smile at all. 

Tails turned away to hide his blush. “Certainly. Well follow me to my workshop. I got a lot of projects and speaking of which I could use your help with physical labor.” Tails said into his hands hiding his face. 

Shadow sighed and said, “As long as your careful I will help in any way I can. Let us go then.”

They walked to the workshop and Tails immediately uncovered a large machine under a tarp after struggling and getting help from Shadow to remove it. 

“Thanks.. I had it.” Tails scoffed.

“No you didn’t. You are very weak Tails.” Shadow laughed for a moment. 

“Nu-uh..” Tails pouted.

“So what is it?” Shadow said.

Tails immediately lit up and smiled brightly. 

“No one usually asks what I making.... but, for i’ll happily tell you!” Tails almost yelled while bursting with excitement. 

“So this is a machine that uses recycled material and converts it into pure energy that will be stored into a battery. It will be great for a power outage. In normal scenarios batteries can die when the power is being used and there isn’t a way to charge the battery but, as long as you throw some recycled material in it the machine will convert its electrons to pure energy and continue powering the battery.” Tails said excitedly while adding, “In addition, there is a extra slot that will also use chaos energy from a emerald. So when you run out of garbage you can use a single emerald to power the battery.” 

Shadow nodded at the info and carefully processed it. 

“That sounds very useful. For anyone that properly uses recycling bins in their homes they could make an effective back-up battery for their homes. Great work little guy.” Shadow said and patted Tails head.

Tails purred softly then suddenly snapped out if it and backed up while blushing. 

“Thank you, Shadow. It means a lot to know that it could be useful for others as well.” Tails smiled and blushed. 

“No problem, Tails. I’ll be sitting very close by if you need any assistance.” Shadow said softly while taking out small reading glasses and a large book. 

“Woah, I didn’t know you were a reader.” Tails said shocked. 

Shadow crossed is leg and opened his book to the bookmarked page while adjusting his glasses. 

“Yes. I do not get easily entertained by TV and Media.. I prefer a well written story. My house is just full of books. Most of which I have already read and will re-read.” Shadow looked up at Tails from his book. 

“I didn’t know you were so smart, Shadow.” Tails said while itching a little closer to Shadow. 

“Don’t word it like that. I was and am no idiot, Tails.” Shadow said coldly. 

“S-Sorry.. didn’t mean it like that, I swear” Tails got defensive a bit and sat towards his invention. 

Shadow got up a bit and pulled out his book mark and tapped Tail’s head with it.

“H-Hey.. what was that for-“ Tails stopped and read it. 

The bookmark said, “Smile”. 

“Do what the bookmark says. You didn’t offend me so there is no reason to be sad. Continue your work.” Shadow said softly.

“Wh-…” Tails blushed and turned around and smiled so that he couldn’t see it. 

“Didn’t know you were such a big softie, Shadow…” Tails said very softly so he couldn’t hear. 

“Don’t push it.” Shadow said bluntly. 

Tails straightened his back and tensed because he forgot Shadow had enhanced hearing. ‘Darn it.. that’s embarrassing’ Tails said to himself.

Tails grabbed a wrench and slowly started by checking if all bolts were in place so that he could go to the next step. 

Shadow switched to the other leg and crossed it. Reading and looking up at the fox. Shadow was already surprised how he was covered in oil already and chuckled to himself.

“Hmmm?” Tails said towards shadow. “Did you say something?” Tails added.

“No.” Shadow said bluntly. 

Tails turned back around and got on all fours to check under a section of the machine. Tails wiggled his butt and fluttered his tails side to side. 

Shadow took the wrong moment to look up and saw him in his Tight jeans shaking his butt so innocently. Shadow couldn’t help, but watch the innocent and playful Fox.

“Fuck…” Shadow said softly while feeling his pants tighten. “Stop staring.. weirdo..” Shadow said to himself while lifting his book to block the sight of Tails.

“Tails. Do you need any help?” Shadow said getting his attention. 

“Yes. I actually could. Thank you for asking. So can you come up behind me and hold the unit I’m under in place. I am loosening the bolts that keep it connected and I do not want to die from being crushed.” Tails said while joking. 

Shadow got into the position he wanted which in Shadow’s mind was driving him crazy.. Shadow couldn’t help but think of Doggy Style with this compromising position. Tail’s but wasn’t near his waist but, that didn’t help his mind from betraying him. 

“Just hold that still. I have to fix some wiring that was not properly managed.” Tails said softly while in a uncomfortable stretch to get to the wire box.

Tails looked up and smiled brightly. “Of course, Shadow.”

“Hphm.. Okay.. You can go first.” Tails said shyly.

“Uh uh uh. Nope. You are the most dirty. Plus I don’t want to waste your water so we taking down two birds with one stone.” Shadow said while suddenly picking up the Fox in bridal style. 

“Hey!” Tails pouted. 

“I can walk myself…” Tails pouted more. 

“Hmm.. I think I like you like this.” Shadow smirked softly. 

“Golly… shush..” Tails blushed and pouted. 

Tails was carried into the bathroom and placed on the shower floor.

“Okay. Take off your clothing. This isn’t a washer.” Shadow said bluntly.

“W-W-Wha-… thats.. weird though. Y-You are here.” Tails said nervously. 

“If you don’t. I will.” Shadow said while taking off his shirt to reveal his very muscular chest which caused Tails to be stunned and admire the muscles and abs. 

“Tails?” Shadow said snapping him back to reality. 

“Sorry… I will take them off.” Tails nervously takes off his shift revealing his skinny and soft looking stomach and chest. Shadow couldn’t help but secretly admire it.

Shadow reached and turned the shower on extremely hot. 

Suddenly Tails yelped and clutched very tightly to Shadow.

Shadow turned it to medium cold. 

“Sorry.. I usually take very hot baths.” Shadow said softly. 

“You mean Lava baths… I am surprised your skin doesn’t smell like freshly cooked lobster from how you must take showers..” Tails said seriously.  

Shadow couldn’t help but actually laugh loudly. 

This shocked Tails but, somehow he felt happy to make him laugh for real. 

“That was a good joke. I do not get burned like you, Tails. It just feels good to have any water temperature against my skin and quills.” Shadow responded. 

Shadow was staring at Tail’s sheath and small balls.. “Cute.” Shadow accidentally said aloud. 

“Whats cute??” Tails blushed. 

“Who else?” Shadow riddled. 

Tails blushed wildly. 

Shadow grabbed a sponge and put soap and water onto it and mixed it. Shadow got on his knees to be at level of tail’s small figure. Shadow placed the sponge against his back. 

“I am going to help you.” Shadow said while scrubbing his back softly. 

Tails protested a bit but, ultimately just let it happen because he loved the feeling. Tails was unknowingly purring very loudly. 

Shadow enjoyed hearing his purrs. Shadow began going lower after covering his entire back and shoulders. Shadow had the sponge slowly moving around each butt cheek which caused Tails to make tiny moans of pleasure that Tails didn’t understand. Tails whined and protested, “You helped me.. I am obligated to return the favor!!” Tails shouted a bit upset.

“Don’t be upset, Tails.. fine.. I will let you.” Shadow said while huffing. 

‘This is going to be very difficult to stay in control of my urges.” Shadow thought to himself worryingly. 

Tails started to tippy toe to reach my back by failing. Shadow laughed a bit and bent down a bit for him. 

“Its not.. funny.. shush Shadow..” Tails said pouting.

Shadow stood back up after he got that spot. Tails made his way down my back and stopped near my butt. 

Tails was stunned and blushing while staring at Shadow’s soft but muscular butt.
