Officer Wilhelm closed her eyes for a second. When she opened them again, they appeared damp.
She took a deep breath before shuffling to sit more upright in her chair and looked up to the Wolf in front of her. “I see no reason not to make you repeat this on record.”
A small, thick envelope of brown paper landed with a loud THUD on the desk in front of her. Wilhelm looked back and forth between it and the Wolf.
“I have twelve-thousand reasons as to why.” The Wolf concluded with a smirk and pushed the chair back. The wooden legs scraped across the fresh laminate floor as he stood up and brushed his suit off just as Wilhelm reached out to grab the envelope and slide it into the inner pocket of her chest. The padded section felt oddly comforting to her.
“As always, it was a pleasure. I know you had your doubts in the beginning, but you can see that this relationship is quite lucrative for the both of us. Tell Miss Rot’s brother that I send my condolences.”
And with that, the monster walked out the room and closed the door behind him. Officer Wilhelm waited until the steps of his wooden soles had gone quiet.
Then she collapsed onto the desk and wept",
