Note: This started out as a series of shorts, so the 3 short chapters are all compiled here as a single introductory chapter. From here, it will be intentionally written as full chapters. (The 3rd short was never uploaded on its own, so there's new content here for everyone.)


As a lover of video games, naturally our protagonist loves Super Smash Bros. After all, it mashes practically all the major games together, barring a few that just never got around to being included...yet. So, when the Ultimate Smash came along, our protagonist was quick to leap at the chance to play it! One day, our hero receives an odd package in the mail; a VR headset. Designed specifically for use with Smash, the manual states it includes mods that add new characters and features! Our hero, too excited at the idea off all this new content, throws caution to the wind, sets it up, and tries the headset on...

In an intense flash of light, Tails felt as though his body itself were transported! He found himself in a dense jungle, and he heard an announcer speak. "Welcome to Smash Project FUX! This mod has transported you inside the game, and now you must win your way through Classic Mode! Win, and your opponent will be at your mercy for your wild fantasies! Lose... and it's Game Over!" Tails tilted his head, considering what the voice said. "Transported? W-wild fantasies? What kinda mod is this?" he murmured. In front of him, a glowing platform appeared, and the voice spoke again. "Round one! Versus... Diddy Kong!" With that, a certain chimp emerged from the light, flipping his red cap before placing it upon his head. The available items as follows: A reflective Franklin Badge, a chargeable Super Scope, and a Bob-omb that would light its fuse on its own if left unchecked. Tails grabbed the Bob-omb quickly, while Diddy picked up the Super Scope! Acting quickly, Tails tossed the bomb, but Diddy fired the Super Scope right at it! The resulting explosion was surprisingly large, and tossed both combatants into the trees! Tails fell from the tree onto the ground, exhausted, and expecting defeat to follow. However, Diddy didn't attack him. Looking up, Tails saw the monkey's clothes gone, a dazed look on his face. "Finish him!" the announcer commanded! However, Tails was pretty beat himself. He sat on the ground, panting. He couldn't go and "finish" anyone in this condition.

After a few moments, the announcer spoke up again. "By failing to finish the opponent, you are choosing to submit for them instead. Despite this, you will still move on to the next round!" "Ready? Go!" And with that, Link started to dash towards his foxy prey!

Tails spun his namesakes and flew over Link's first sword strikes, but a bit higher than intended. "Waaah, that's right! This counts as Up-B!" he gasped. The hero stopped to raise his shield, but Tails wasn't firing, so he went to close the distance. "Gotcha!" User?" he said, looking slightly confused by the AI term, "I think you are too, actually. This game's been going from world to world, trapping people. That's what I've been able to figure out...and I'm trying to find a way to get everyone out, but...seems my Keyblade can't open an exit." he murmured. Tails lowered his weapon, eyes widening. "So...it's not just me. This game was a trap...for everyone!" he gasped.

The pair discussed the situation for a moment. "So, if we win this game, maybe one of us could escape..." Sora murmured. Tails nodded, and Sora looked a bit awkward. "But then...how do we get everyone else out?" he questioned. Tails shrugged. "Dunno, but since it is a machine, I should be able to figure it out. Tech is kinda my thing." he chuckled. With that, Sora took on a confident expression and offered his hand. "Then you go on and win. I'll stay behind and try to find an exit from in here!" he offered. Tails shyly took his hand and shook it. "Thanks, hehe... I'll do my best." he smiled. Sora smiled back, a goofy, infectious grin. However, their friendly moment was interrupted by the booming voice. "There WILL be a victor and a loser!" it declared, sounding more ominous than usual! Bob-ombs started to rain on the arena, and Sora jumped away from Tails, giving him a wink. "Here's a trick!
