Episode 16: Lost Child


After a climactic confrontation with Dr. Eggman and Shadow Moth where Silver and Blaze transformed into their super forms using the Chaos Emeralds, a bright light enveloped the Agreste Manor, and our heroes and villains all vanished from Paris. Marinette and Adrien found themselves in a futuristic city called Negatropolis. Oh, and the cat was fully out of the bag regarding their secret identities. While they explored the city, Dr. Eggman and Gabriel Agreste both found themselves imprisoned in the headquarters of Eggman Nega, who was examining the Miracle Box at a work bench near their cells. "It seems like an unremarkable box, despite the fact I can't open it. I'm more interested in how you managed to return to this world..." Nega growled, glaring at Eggman in his cell. "The Chaos Emeralds had an interesting reaction to another power in that world. If you let us out, we can share in this power as we crush any heroes that arrived here with us!" Eggman offered. Nega scoffed at him. "Why, so I can give you a chance to betray me the way I betrayed you? You can't trick me that easily!" Eggman's darker-clothed double sneered. Gabriel stepped back into the shadows of his cell. "Nooruu, dark wings rise..." he said, transforming into Hawk Moth quietly. He then released a butterfly concealed in Hawk Moth's cane, transforming it into an akuma. "Fly away, akuma... Find someone to aid in my escape... Evilize them..." he whispered. Eggman caught sight of the akuma flying away from Gabriel's cell and smirked. "You'll want my help eventually, Nega. Until then, I'm content to wait right here..." he said, lounging on the uncomfortable chair in his cell. He was confident he would be free soon.


Adrien peered out from within an alleyway as robot guards stomped past. Fortunately, they didn't look in the alley. "So, yeah, either we got sent into the future, or this is the Mobian world..." he sighed, turning to look at Marinette, who had a distressed look in her eyes. He blushed as he looked at her. "Aaaand we apparently both figured out each other's identities before all this..." he added. They had to talk about this eventually, though this might not be the time. They hurried to Cream's aid, using stick and yo-yo to catch the robots' attention. They didn't do much damage, though. "Uhh, milady? I still only have one cataclysm..." Cat stammered. As a robot approached them, it was struck down by a fireball, the debris carried out of the way with psychic power! Ladyblaze and Silver Noir had arrived! "Mind if we cut in?" Silver asked. "Are we glad to see you!" Ladybug smiled. "Eeek!" Cream yelped as a robot started to carry her off. Our heroes couldn't relax yet!


The commotion drew Eggman Nega's attention, and his glaring face appeared on various screens attached to the sides of the buildings. "Intruders! There's no use fighting! Surrender yourselves, and I will show you mercy..." the doctor sneered. Silver and Blaze groaned, but otherwise didn't pay attention to him as they worked together, the feline stopping Cream's abductor with her burning yo-yo while Silver carried her away safely with his telekinetic powers. Nega snarled to see his enemies ignoring him. "Those disguises don't fool me, Silver! Blaze! You shouldn't have returned!" he shouted. Dr. Eggman snickered, watching from his cell. "Why don't you use the rabbit's mother? I'm sure she'll surrender to protect her..." he said, loud enough for his voice to be heard through Nega's microphone. "Shut up, inferior Eggman!" Nega snapped. However, Cream had heard enough. "They have... my m-mom...?" she stammered, backing away from the continuing battle against the robots, feeling increasingly more helpless. Cheese noticed the robots were firing lasers carelessly, and attempted to block as a shot came toward Cream! The Chaos fell to the ground and the rabbit cried out. "No, Cheese!" She knelt beside the Chao, but it wasn't moving. She started to tear up, holding Cheese's bow tie, which had been detached from him by the attack. It was the perfect object for the akuma to burrow into. "Poor, poor Lost Child... Hawk Moth is here, and I'll help you save your mother, just as I wish to save Adrien's mother... But first, you must come here and release me..." Hawk Moth said, whispering into the rabbit's ears from afar. Cream nodded and began to transform, which led Ladybug and Cat Noir to a grim realization. "My dad's here, too..." Cat Noir gasped.

A camera watched as "Lost Child" went invisible and set out in search of her mother while the heroes attempted to follow after her as best they could. But being invisible would certainly make it hard for them to locate her. At any rate, Cream's mother was actually not being held by Eggman Nega at all. In fact, she was watching the camera feed from a hidden bunker. "Cream, I've finally found you again! I need to go!" said Vanilla the rabbit, standing up quickly. "Hold on!" Vector the crocodile stepped beside her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "I get where you're comin' from, but it ain't safe! This could all be some elaborate trap! To capture you so you can lead Nega to the resistance!" he warned her. It was a small resistance they had, made up on a handful of Mobians who had escaped Eggman Nega's conquest of their world. Vanilla brushed his hand off her shoulder. "I won't give up our location... I just... I need to help my daughter!" she said desperately. Vector frowned. "Calm down. At least wait for Charmy to get back, we can send him on recon to figure all this out..." Vanilla shook her head and started to run for the door. "No one's going to keep this mother from her child!" she shouted, hurrying out before Vector or anyone else could stop her! "Ahh, shoot! ...Good luck, Miss Vanilla..." the crocodile said with a worried expression.


"Cream! Yoo-hoooo!" called Cat Noir while Ladybug waited around a corner, poised to use her Lucky Charm. "We found your mom, Cream! Hurry up so we can all get outta here!" Cat called. The invisible Lost Child hesitated, and Hawk Moth was about to chastise her, but he instead shrugged from within his cell. "Go on and check it out, Lost Child. It's likely a trap, but you can bring me his Miraculous!" he told her. Lost Child emerged from hiding and slowly approached Cat. "Where is my mother?" she asked him. "C'mere, I'll take you to her!" he said, waving her over. He smirked as Cream approached, giving Ladybug a thumb's up behind his back. The plan went awry as Silver Noir and Ladyblaze arrived from their separate search, and quickly surrounded Lost Child! "We gotcha! Now hold still!" Silver cried as Cheese nervously hovered behind him, his bow tie now affixed to Cream's villain suit. Lost Child yelped and held her hands in Silver & Blaze's directions. "Go away!" she screamed, firing blasts from her hands that caused them to disappear! "Cream, no!" Cat shouted as Hawk Moth cackled in his cell. "Now those two are lost... Lost in the void created by Lost Child! If Ladybug and Cat Noir want them back, they'll have to give me their Miraculous!" he declared. Cream didn't care what he was saying, though. "You...you lied about my mom... You... You're being mean to me!!" she wailed, vanishing from sight! Ladybug pulled Cat Noir to her with her yo-yo. "Be careful! If she hits you with that beam, who knows what'll happen to you!" she warned. "I'm touched you care, milady!" Cat winked, causing Ladybug to blush.


For Vanilla, going after Cream on her own was a bad idea. Though she knew roughly where to go based on the camera footage, her path was blocked by robot guards, and she left so hastily that she forgot to bring a weapon. "Lucky Charm!" Ladybug called, but there was a problem. The Miraculous Ladybugs flew in a circle, seeming a bit confused. "Huh?" the spotted hero gasped. "Maybe your powers are a bit off because we're in a new world?" Cat wondered. Ladybug groaned in frustration. "Hawk Moth's powers aren't affected!" she protested. Cat shrugged awkwardly, and turned his attention back to Cream. "Please hand over your Miraculous, Mr. Cat... So I can leave to find my mom..." she pleaded, looking at him with puppy eyes. Cat Noir looked a bit conflicted for a moment, and then he surprised everyone by removing his ring, changing back into Adrien! "Alright, enough fighting... Come and take the ring. I'm sure my father won't do anything 'cataclysmic' with it..." he said with a serious tone, but shooting Plagg a sly wink as he spoke. "W-wait, don't be rash!" Ladybug stammered. Cream approached cautiously, but Hawk Moth spurned her on. "I knew I could count on you to obey, Adrien! And Ladybug will be forced to surrender for your sake, as well! Take the ring!" he commanded. Lost Child reached for the ring, only for Plagg to leap towards her! "Cataclysm!!" he cried, striking at the akumatized bow tie affixed to her costume! Plagg's power went a bit out of control, sending destructive shockwaves through Nega's city, cracking the streets, shattering windows, and even causing a building behind Cream to crumble! Ladybug quickly seized the akuma with her yo-yo, while the confused Miraculous Ladybugs flew around and restored Silver and Blaze to the places they were standing when Cream zapped them. However, they left the destruction in the city alone. Shadow and Vanilla noticed the destruction, and Cream was soon reunited with her mom.

Hawk Moth shouted in frustration. "How can you stand against me, Adrien! You're lucky I misplaced the peacock miraculous in the transport to this world!" he growled. His cell suddenly opened, much to his surprise. "That was quite a display of power out there! I surmise it was power from your world..." Nega stated, motioning for Hawk Moth to step out of the cell. "Perhaps we can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement." Nega smirked. Hawk Moth stepped out of the cell, a smug look on his face. "Perhaps so... Don't get too comfortable, Ladybug and Cat Noir... Or shall I say... Adrien and Marinette!" he said with a sneer.


Soon, the group had arrived at the resistance HQ, where they were met by Vector and Team Chaotix. "Silver! Where have you been?" asked Espio as the team surrounded their long-missing friends. "It's a long story..." Silver said, "But I guess we have time..." While Silver and Blaze started to tell their story, Adrien and Marinette found their way to the sleeping area of the HQ, where they sat down on the edge of a bed side by side, resting together.
