Episode 13: Emerald Quest


After weeks of secretly working on it, Tails had at last completed a tracking device that would help them find the Chaos Emeralds. Perhaps it would even lead them to Eggman and Shadow Moth! However, the priority for the moment was to keep the remaining emeralds out of the villains' hands. To that end, the Mobians met up with Ladybug and Cat Noir, and decided to split up into teams to check out areas where the tracker had detected an emerald. Knowing didn't help, Adrien couldn't let on that he knew or else he'd have to give up Cat Noir...and then how would Marinette feel about him? He was snapped out of his thoughts by Silver, who tapped his shoulder to get his attention. "Ready to go? Cream and Knuckles are coming with us." he said. Cat glanced at the group he was going to search with. "Split up kinda randomly, huh? Well, any team with me on it will do just purrrrfect!" he said with a playful grin. His stick-phone got a message, and it displayed the location of the detected emerald on a map of Paris. "Looks like I'm leading. Let's get this treasure hunt on the move!" he announced.

However, by the time the group arrived where the emerald was supposed to be, they found a robot attempting to carry it off. It was a crabmeat, and it was scuttling away from the river carrying the blue emerald in its pincers. It should have been easy to deal with, but there were actually dozens of those crabs scuttling about, forming a defensive perimeter around the emerald. "I'll get it! Let's play...fetch!!" Knuckles shouted, tossing the dog Miraculous' ball into the crowd of crab robots. A second later, one of the robots appeared in Knuckles' hand, and not the one with the emerald. Knuckles ran to deal with it, leaving Cat and Silver to deal with the other robots. "I got it..." Silver said, lifting the correct robot with his psychokinesis...only for a mechanical claw to reach down from above and grab the emerald! The claw was attached to the Egg Mobile, piloted of course by Dr. Eggman. "I'll take that! But don't worry, you can keep the crab-bots!" he snickered. As if on cue, the robots pointed their pincers at Silver and Cat, firing balls of energy at them from those claws! While Silver set to work tossing those blasts back at the crabs with his powers, Cat Noir pointed his stick down and extended it, launching himself to the rooftops in order to chase the fleeing Eggman! Noticing he was being chased, the doctor fired small missiles that turned and went soaring straight toward Cat Noir! The hero leapt over them, turning and swatting them with his stick on the way. The resulting explosion propelled Cat Noir backward, closing the distance to Eggman! This was intended, as Cat turned in midair and readied a Cataclysm...

Cat Noir smashed the claw attached to the Egg Mobile using his Cataclysm, and landed on the rooftop below to recover the Chaos Emerald. "Guess you aren't as dangerous you're cracked up to be, huh, doctor?" Cat snickered as he picked up the blue gem. Eggman lowered his vehicle down in front of Cat Noir, and held out his hand. "If you know what's good for you, you'll hand over that emerald to me." he stated, which Cat just laughed at. "How do you figure? That sounds like the opposite of what'd be good to me." he said, holding the gem away from the scientist. Eggman sat back with a smug expression on his face. "It's quite simple, ADRIEN, there are some secrets I've been keeping from Shadow Moth that you may not want me to let slip. You can cooperate with that sort of incentive, can't you, Agreste?" Cat Noir was left with a shocked expression from his words. "H-hang on, Agreste? Adrien? Don't know him, hehe...heh." he stammered, trying a bit feebly to talk his way out of this. "My remaining Spybug footage says otherwise... And even if it wasn't true, I doubt you'd like me spreading such rumors... But perhaps you'd like your friends to catch up and hear this conversation?" the doctor snickered. Cat looked at the emerald, considering his options. If Eggman had proof of his identity, then his only options were to give up being a hero, or become a villain, essentially. The doctor wasn't interested in waiting, however, and fired a net over Cat Noir, seizing the emerald as the boy struggled to get free. "Admittedly, having Silver catch up would wreck my odds of taking this, so I'll just leave you to mull things over!" he snickered, escaping with the emerald before Silver, Knuckles and Cream could arrive. Cat looked at them grimly when the got there. "He...got away..." he sighed. "At least you're not hurt..." Cream said as Silver yanked the net off him. Cat glanced off in the direction Eggman had gone. "What do I do now?" he thought.


In a fairly uneventful search, Ladybug, Blaze and Tails had found the white Chaos Emerald, and the fox was holding onto it while checking his tracker for the location of the next emerald. They were standing on a rooftop, and Ladybug looked out across the city with concerned eyes. "I wonder how Adrien is doing..." she murmured. "That came out of nowhere..." Blaze stated, glancing at Ladybug searchingly. "...you're still in love with him." she concluded, to which Ladybug blushed and stammered. "I... n-no, I'm...with Cat now..." she babbled. "Huh? What are you two talking about?" Tails asked, glancing up from his scanner. "N-nothing! Nothing! L-let us know if you find anything!" Ladybug stammered. He sat back, watching through the footage that had been collected, until finally, he came to the very end. The very last thing captured by the camera before Spybug's defeat. Gabriel stood up from his seat quickly, knocking the chair over as he paused the video, staring with his mouth agape. "It cannot be! It's impossible!!" He had found the footage that pierced Cat Noir's mask. He could see plain as day, it was Adrien. His own son. He bashed his fist on the table furiously. "Eggman! He hid this from me! I knew I couldn't trust that man!" he growled. However, his muscles soon relaxed, and he started to laugh, the laugh getting louder before long. "This is perfect! Cat Noir, actually Adrien! Never mind those Chaos Emeralds, I now have a clear path to the Miraculous! Ohh, this is so rich! Fate has such a sense of humor!" he said, continuing to laugh as his Kwamis, Nooroo and Dusuu, looked on nervously, worried about what this unhinged man was about to do to his own son...
