Tails was gone. His heart was broken by Vanitas, and revenge sure hadn't brought him back. Roxas had left Tails' world along with Sora and Ven, all of them returning to where they came from. He soon heard footsteps, but he didn't bother to lift his head and look. "Go away, Axel..." he murmured. "Axel? Do I look like an Axel?" a familiar voice responded. Roxas' head jolted up, and he looked with sheer joy in his eyes. "Tails!! Y-you're alive!!" he shouted. However, when he looked, his expression became more puzzled. "Tails...?" he questioned. The fox's bangs were dyed black, and he was wearing a bodysuit, not unlike...Vanitas. He folded his arms, scoffing at Roxas. "I'd much rather you called me Miles, if you didn't mind..." he stated. Roxas slightly recoiled from the fox. Seeing him again was exactly what the blonde had wanted, but there was something about this meeting that was...off. Roxas considered what he should say next carefully. "...Miles... How exactly did you get here? How did you...escape the Realm of Darkness?" he asked. Miles smirked at him. "...I didn't."


Elsewhere in town, another twin-tailed fox was wandering the streets, looking about with a bit of confusion in his eyes. He couldn't remember anything. Where he was, how he got here, not even his own name. All he knew was that things felt awfully wrong. When the tram had passed, he noticed someone across the track who wasn't there before. "There you are! That last bit of light... Always the toughest to snuff out!" said Vanitas with a sinister smirk! The fox recoiled, he could just tell this guy was dangerous, memory or not! Vanitas clutched his keyblade, ready to charge over and strike at the fox, when suddenly, a pair of fiery objects crashed at his feet, stopping him in his tracks! The kitsune glanced around to see Axel peering out from behind a corner. "This way, hurry!" he shouted, and the fox gave a nod, showing off his impressive speed as he raced to catch up with the spiky redhead. Vanitas watched them flee and scoffed. "It's a small world... And I've a pretty good notion where you'll go..." he murmured, opening a corridor of darkness and stepping through it while Axel led the kitsune away. "R...Roxas..." he murmured, grabbing his head, "Do...you know Roxas...?" he asked. The name was all he could remember. Axel glanced back at him, noting they weren't being followed. "Got his name memorized, do ya?" he asked, frowning as he considered the implication of the fox's question, "But don't tell me... Vanitas made you into a zombie like he was?" he questioned. The kitsune tilted his head, and Axel chuckled awkwardly. "It's a...very long story. Come with me, kid..." he said, leading the fox onward.


Miles was viciously beating Roxas. He kicked him, whipped him with his tails, kicked him some more while he was down...and the boy didn't do a thing to defend himself. "Why aren't you fighting back? The sound of footsteps caught their attention, and Miles turned to see Vanitas join them on the ledge of the clock tower. "Taking the heart from a Nobody? Sounds tough. But I guess if that's what you need before we can be together properly... I'll help you accomplish that!" The dark being smirked, his keyblade materializing as he approached Roxas. "We'd appreciate it if you'd get off your ass and make it fun for us..." Vanitas added, pointing the blade at the Nobody. Roxas shook his head, refusing to move. "You've already won, alright... So just...just end me already!!" he cried, tears scattering onto the ledge under him as he resigned himself to this fate. Vanitas turned to Miles, who simply shrugged. "So dull and boring, but you always were just an extra. We already have Sora and Ven to mess around with... We literally don't need a Nobody like you!" Vanitas said, raising his blade to strike...

"Noooooooo!!" To Vanitas' surprise, another fox leapt onto his back, struggling against him and keeping him from striking Roxas down! "Get... off me!!" he shouted, hurling the fox backwards onto the ledge, next to Axel, who held up one of his chakrams threateningly. "You've got an annoying habit of threatening my friends. No more, you gotta go through me first!" he said, charging at Vanitas and clashing his weapon against the villain's keyblade! Roxas watched with wide eyes, seeing Miles stepping towards the other fox threateningly. "T-tails... Tails' Nobody! Hang on!" he gasped, rushing to his feet, and then racing towards Miles, only to be kicked into the wall by Vanitas! "Hang on, Roxie! That's a personal matter between a fox's own body and heart! Stay out of it!" he sneered, easily keeping Axel at bay at the same time. Miles stepped towards Tails, his hands radiating darkness. "Stay out of my way! Don't think I won't destroy myself!" he growled. Tails looked around nervously, unsure how to fight the darkness. Roxas materialized both his keyblades, and then leapt clean over Vanitas' head while Axel kept him busy! "Tails, catch!!" he cried, hurling one of the keyblades towards the fox! Tails jumped up, and caught the Oathkeeper, landing on his feet and pointing it at Miles. "I won't...let you hurt Roxas!" he shouted. Miles scoffed, raising a hand and forming a Soul Eater blade in his grasp. "Then we'll fight...for the right to exist!" he snarled, charging at Tails, their blades clashing! Vanitas knocked Axel backward with a jolt of dark energy, leaving him winded and giving the villain a chance to focus on Roxas. "Where was I? Ah, yes... Disposing of the rubbish..." he sneered. Roxas pointed the Oblivion keyblade at him with a scowl on his face. "Now is where you pay for hurting Tails, Vanitas!!" he shouted.

A battle began to unfold amidst the five of them, with Tails and Miles taking to the sky to allow the others to fight on the ground! The foxes clashed blades, each spinning their tails rapidly to keep aloft as they tried to find an opening to strike the other down! "You idiot! Can you even remember anything? All that's happened to us his his fault!" Miles growled. Tails blocked his incoming attack and grunted as he held back that blade with the Oathkeeper. "N-no! That's...not true!" he snapped, straining against his heartless! Axel was back on his feet, and tried to lend his support to both Tails and Roxas, throwing his flaming chakrams at both villains. It certainly broke up both clashes for a moment, but only long enough for Vanitas and Miles to team up and strike Axel with blasts of darkness, knocking him over the ledge! "Axel, no!!" Roxas shouted, dashing over to find him gripping the side of the ledge. "Don't get distracted! Behind you!!" Axel shouted, snapping Roxas back into focus. He turned quickly, blocking Vanitas' keyblade strike just in time! "You're all so pathetic! All you can do is defend, defend, defend! All of you, just a bunch of lame nobodies!" the villain scoffed. As if to make his point, Miles dropped down onto the ledge next to them, pinning Tails under him, and pointing his Soul Eater at the fox's head! "Fade into nothing!!" Miles shouted, about to strike! The Oathkeeper suddenly flashed back into Roxas' other hand, and he used both blades to first knock back Vanitas, and then block Miles' strike! "He's somebody to me!" Roxas shouted, giving Miles a kick to get him off of Tails! He then helped the kitsune to his feet, and suddenly felt his arms around him! "Roxas... You're somebody to me, too!" Tails said, sniffling. Miles and Vanitas both looked a bit disgusted. "Enough of this mush!! Perish!!" Vanitas shouted, the both of them moving in to rush at the couple!

"Forgot about me, did ya?" said Axel, who snapped his fingers and caused a cyclone of flame to surround Vanitas, stopping him in his tracks! Then, Roxas and Tails both turned toward Miles, each clutching one of the two keyblades in their hands! As Miles attempted to strike, they both slashed back at him, their keyblades cutting his dark body and freeing the heart trapped inside as he cried out in defeat! "No!!" Vanitas shouted, and suddenly found weapons pointed at him by all three males. He growled, opening a portal of darkness to escape. "At least the fox no longer has a heart for me to be drawn to..." he huffed before vanishing. Axel let out a sigh now that the danger had passed. "I dunno, I've heard Nobodies can literally regrow their hearts..." he murmured. Roxas and Tails embraced, nuzzling one another. "Let him come back if so. I... I love you, Tails."
