I just watched the episode where the CMC get their cutie marks for the first time and I was incredibly disappointed they did it so early in the show (not to mention I hate how poorly written the episode was, save for that awesome song by Diamond Tiara).

Was this the same reaction the rest of the fandom had?

I remember how upset everyone was after Larson gave Twi those wings. Did anyone think this was for a similar reason (to sell more toys)? Or did anyone feel like it was just bad timing and poor writing like me?

I loved it because I saw it before I knew they'd go on to be extremely sidelined for the next 4 years. I actually believed they'd go on to continue developing as individuals, as they did in season 4, and maybe finally age up some as they experience new things. If that happened, there wouldn't have been any problems with them getting their marks half-way through the show. Unfortunately, they instead became minor characters under all the new plots.

the whole premise of them helping other people get their marks was weird,
the song was the only real redeeming quality that almost gave me a tear, but in retrospect, probably could've been drawn out a little more, the whole show turns into a.d.d. fest sometimes in the next season. I think that's season 5 which is the self aware season the show could've ended on, season 6 is the worst season, like, even worse then 3 which people bash on for being short, I thought "that's it, it's getting cancelled, these are the last episodes/" then seven is redeeming, eight is fair, nine is good but just because I like ending in obscurity.

I co-own a channel with 34K. I also own one personally with 1K (under the same name in the video). But I'm thinking of starting from scratch.
